So it’s taken enough time but we have finally sorted out a WordPress site. We’ll try and check in here at least once a week between now and May 28 when I jump on a plane to Luanda, Angola to meet Alfy and get started with the expedition. Stay tuned for updates on all the behind the scenes preparations, which at the moment seem to be focussed on:
- Finding sponsors who will provide useful film, communication and expedition equipment for the trip
- Speaking to experts about the exact dangers posed by hippos and crocodiles on the Kwanza River, and how best to manage these risks
- Mapping out the stages of the journey we will need to walk, and working out how we can portage the 50kg Klepper
- Working out what to do about the age-old Angolan visa problem
